do the curly wurly

so while we were living in bristol, england, i absolutely fell in love with the cadbury curly wurly bar. love is not even a strong enough word to describe my obsession with the curly wurly. anyways, the CW is an homage to the marathon bar from days of candy bar yore. you remember the marathon bar, right? it was the one with the ruler on it, so you could measure the goodness. a curly wurly is thin strips of creamy caramel braided and lovingly enrobed with a layer of silky cadbury milk chocolate.

and now since kraft foods (KFT for those who play the stock market), purveyors of such fine cheese products as kraft cheese slices, velveeta and cheez whiz have acquired the british chocolate giant, curly wurly bars can be now had stateside.

all i can say is, better watch your backs hershey and mars, because cadbury is on it's A game, releasing new candy bars on what seems like a weekly basis over in the UK. and chocolovers, get ready to experience some amazing cadbury chocogoodness!

8 tracks

do you love music? check.
do you remember the audio innovation called the 8 track? check.
for some of us, the term 8 track brings back a sense of nostalgia: summertime spent riding around in the backseat of your mom's car in the 70's, a car with probably only lapbelts at best, the paltry A/C blowing meagerly cool air, the dark tinted window film peeling back from the window corners and the 8 track going, going, going until it reaches that one song. the one unfortunate song that gets cut in half then continues as the 8 track tape switches over to the next program.
well, fast forward from the 8 track, 30 odd years later and we've arrived at pandora. what's pandora you ask? pandora was a fantastic free online service with streaming music and listener created "stations". you'd type in an artist or song, and the little pandora logarithmic algorhithim machine would create a radio station playlist of similiar artists with the occasional advert song thrown in. as all good things come to an end, sadly, pandora is now allowing each user only 40 hours of free music per month. and what's an online listener to do? ration out those 40 hours making sure you pause your music before hitting up the bathroom or water cooler? only listen when you're doing email or facebooking? pony up the monthly fees for unlimited listening?

psst, hey music lover. yes, you over there. i'll share a little secret with you: http://www.8tracks.com/.

a fantastic free site that is made up of playlists submitted by music lovers the world over. you'll hear music you love love love and hopefully some new tunage that you didn't even know existed paired together in a minimum 30 minute mix. you can type in an artist or song of your choice, 8tracks.com will reward you by listing mixes containing that particular song or artist. or, you can search by genre and 8tracks has got all the bases covered from lo-fi to alt to jazz to soundtracks and back again.

one of my personal favorite mixers is a music afficiando going by the handle "anotherlatenight" and whose range of music choices is absolutely astounding and inspiring.

all for free. at least for now. such awesomeness, it is not to be believed.

go. listen. now.

and while you're at it, get one of their fantabulous t-shirts and help support online music!

everything is coming up minerals

and i mean everything. the last year has found just about every beauty product being infused with the healthful goodness that is minerals.

the latest entry to join the mineral bandwagon is kiehl's marvelous mineral mascara. available in only 2 shades as this report goes digital - an inky black and a rich sable black brown. this completely paraben free formula boasts fuller, longer & more richly pigmented lashes than most conventional drugstore brands.

i have to honestly admit, i am not really a mascara girl - i have had no love in the mascara department as i always look like a racoon at the end of any day that i have appiled mascara in the AM. it seems i have to decide: do i want to moisturize the delicate eye area the night before OR wear mascara manana with the risk of runny mascara by lunchtime. what's a girl to do?
not the case with the kiehl's marvelous mineral mascara. oh no, no smudges here. i've even slept in it (shhhh. i know. it's bad. really bad) and emerged from a deep slumber with a smudge-free pillowcase.

clocking in at $16.50 per tube, this all natural, mineral mascara ain't cheap. but it's good good good and i am now a mascara convert, my lashes swathed in the inky, rich sable black on a now daily basis. available online at www.kiehls.com, in kiehl's store nationwide or in kiehl's pop-up shops, located in selected nordstrom's.
